Children

Children at St. Peter's have a number of opportunities for formation.  From Sunday mornings to special events, our goal is to make learning the faith fun and interesting.

Sunday Mornings

Children meet in the Children's Chapel on the main level of the building at 10 am to sing a song together before going with their teachers to their class.

Godly Play
Children aged 4 years to 1st Grade participate in our Godly Play class.  Godly Play is a Montessori-based Sunday School class.  The interactive lessons tell stories of the faith and allow children an opportunity to get into the story and participate in the storytelling.  Bev Norris is the lead teacher for this group.  Godly Play meets at 10 am each Sunday Morning on the lower level of our building.

All Things New

All Things New is for children in grades 2-6, and offers age appropriate lessons on the basics of the faith.  Using discussion, fine-art, multicultural lessons and other activities, children are engaged in learning about the bible, faith and responding to God.  Bob and Carole Bailer are the lead teachers for this class.  All Things New meets at 10 am each Sunday Morning on the lower level of our building.

Regular Events

Preschool Story Time

Preschool Story Time (PSST) meets on Wednesdays, alternating between 10am and 1pm each week.  Usually running in two ten weeks sessions, one in the fall and one in the winter/spring, PSST is intended for children who have not yet started kindergarten.  Children hear bible stories, sing songs, make a craft, share a snack and enjoy each others' company.  Often parents organize informal play dates on our playground before or after our sessions.  The program usually lasts 45 to one hour.

 Vacation Bible School

Each Summer St. Peter's offers a vacation

bible school, which is open to the entire

community.  Typically we have to limit

registration to 60 or 65 students, and we

have a waiting list every year.  Children learn

bible stories, important biblical themes, sing

songs, make crafts and enjoy water play

outdoors.  As soon as plans for the 2011

VBS are ready, we'll post them here!

Seasonally and for special occasions we offer opportunities for children to grow and explore their faith in unique and exciting ways.
